Buying What You Need & Saving Money  Posted: December 27th, 2016

A few years ago, we were struggling financially. Money was super tight. That's when I started to clip coupons to save money. Each week I would go to several different stores and use a stack of coupons to make sure I always got the best deal for my family.

Even though I was saving a ton of money using coupons, I was getting completely overwhelmed with the amount of extra items we had around the house. Plus, we almost never ate all the food by the expiration dates, so most of the items were being thrown out.

Now that we are on a smoother financial path, I don't chase down deals every week like I used too. I still clip coupons, but I don't use them every time I go to the store. I also don't buy a ton of extras. I will buy one or two, but I stop and think will we use it by the expiration date, before I place it in my cart.

I have figured out, that if I shop at my favorite store and just buy what we need each week I can still save money. If one week we need more of one item, I just eliminate a few items or extras that I know we can hold off on, to get what we need.

I've been shopping this way for almost a year now. I'm only walking into one store, getting what I need and walking out. Now I have more time to do other things, like spend quality time with my family!
